The first annual medical mission trip at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital was a huge success. The camp took place from August 26th to August 29th 2024 in Kisii, Kenya.
We had a team of two orthopaedic surgeons from Dallas, Texas and one interventional non-operative spine specialist also from Dallas, Texas. Supporting our 3 physicians was a team of 4 physician assistants, 1 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), 4 operating room nurses and one 1 Stryker sales representative, all from Dallas, TX. The team of 13 medical providers achieved the following in 3.5 days. Over the 3.5 day period the team performed over 30 orthopaedic surgeries, while their equipment benefited 47 patients surgically.
Non-operatively, the team above saw over 1,000 patients in the clinic and performed 300 joint injections, epidural steroid injections and trigger point injections.
