Meet the Board

Dr. Edward Mairura

Dr. Mairura is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Mairura was born in Kenya and moved to Minnesota where he completed High School. His undergraduate education was at the University of Minnesota, Twin-Cities campus where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then attended Medical School at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgical training at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2016. He considers himself a proud “triple gopher”.

After residency, he moved to the Mansfield/ Dallas area in the summer of 2016, to join his family and joined Texas Orthopaedic Surgical Associates which is now Methodist Orthopaedic Surgical Associates. Dr. Mairura is a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), a member of the Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Medical Society. His special areas of interest include anterior total hip replacements. Dr. Mairura also specializes in total knee replacements. Dr. Mairura is also a pioneer in outpatient total hip and knee replacements within the Methodist Health System, having helped launch these procedures at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and Methodist Mansfield Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Mairura also has expertise in orthopaedic trauma and geriatric trauma, and was actively involved in optimizing the hip fracture protocols at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. His other orthopaedic surgical interests include general orthopaedics in areas of arthroscopic treatment of the knee, as well as hand and upper extremity.

During his career, he has been recognized for his early research and dedication to patients. He is a recipient of the 2016 Gustillo resident research award for the best effort at the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Locally, he has been recognized as Living Magazine Top doc in Mansfield-Arlington 6 years in a row, 2018, 2019, 2020 , 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He serves on different key committees within the Methodist Health System aimed at improving orthopaedic care delivery to patients.

Selina Mairura

Selina was born in Mombasa, Kenya and grew up in Nairobi, Kenya where she attended high school. She then moved to the United Kingdom where she finished her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Kent Law School. She then subsequently relocated to the United States in and completed her Master of Laws degree from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2017. Her desire to begin a combined legal and business corporate career led her to complete a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas Business School in 2020.

Selina carries over 4 years of corporate business and legal consulting experience. She has worked for the largest member owned healthcare company in the United States where she supported health care systems and hospitals in contract negotiations and custom sourcing strategies. She has worked for EY, one of the Big 4 consulting firms helping clients evaluate their legal functions and identify improvements that enable greater legal-business collaboration in support of enterprise strategic goals. She currently works as a legal consultant for a worldwide tech company in the DFW area.

Dr. Linah Mairura

Dr. Linah Mairura was born in Kenya and her family relocated to the US when she was in her teens. She completed high school and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 2006, where she majored in Biology with a minor in Psychology. She obtained her medical degree from The Ohio State College of Medicine in 2013 and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Minnesota, where she was chief resident, in 2016.

Dr. Mairura is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians. She enjoys working as a primary care physician with a special interest in chronic disease, pediatrics and women's health. She has also spent time abroad caring for patients in Kenya and Tanzania. She has held leadership positions within the healthcare systems she has worked in and is actively involved in her community. She also runs a scholarship foundation she co-founded that helps educate children in Kenya.
